Spring 2010 Greetings

This is truly a spring season for me in that I have moved from New York to Minnesota. I have needed musical, environmental and personal change. Indeed I have found it.
I remain committed to learning and premiering new repertoire. It keeps my fingers in training, my ears wide open, and my students better informed. Along these lines,
Access To Music, launched in the Twin Cities, continues to grow and gain importance.
Last season, with the invaluable support of the HARC Foundation (http://harcfoundation.org), I performed an ATM concert in Los Angeles. Peter Knell was the locally featured composer. I look forward to San Francisco and Washington DC for ATM's next debuts.

During the remainder of the 2010 season, I am focusing on the commemoration of Robert Schumann's 200th birthday with concerts and a recording of his Kreisleriana Opus 16, Clara's and Brahms' sets of variations on his F# minor Albumblätter, and Mario Berlinguer's remarkable Variations on a very familiar Schumann tune (too ingeniously integrated to divulge here).

On a personal note, my dear friend and colleague Richard Shirk passed away last year. His devoted teaching, coupled with his consistently inspired performances are my vivid, daily reminders to continue to work with integrity of intention, and never, ever to quit
"5 minutes before the miracle happens."

I send my best wishes for a prosperous remainder of the 2010 season, and as always,
I welcome hearing from you whenever you might have a thought to share.

Liz
